WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, President Donald Trump released a racist, AI image on Truthsocial depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.
Public Citizen Co-Presidents Lisa Gilbert and Robert Weissman issued the following statement:
“President Trump’s image of former President Obama and Michelle Obama is racist, obscene and deplorable. This is disgusting behavior, and abhorrent to see it from a President. In the face of this disgusting post, drawing on among the deepest and most overtly racist tropes, will Trump’s enablers finally offer a word of criticism?
“The post should be removed immediately and Trump must apologize to the Obamas and to the American people. Trump’s insistence on attacking Brown and Black people through his words, actions and now a disgusting social media post, is an affront to all Americans, of every race, creed and religion.”
