Crypto Enforcer Conflicted by Coinbase Stock Purchase
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, who has a major role in cryptocurrency enforcement matters, bought as much as $50,000 worth of Coinbase stock in November, according to a recently filed disclosure that Public Citizen obtained from the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. Bartlett Naylor, economist for Public Citizen, released the following statement:
“Few people would look to Fox veteran and now U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro as a model of integrity, and her recent purchase of Coinbase stock won’t lift those numbers. This ownership compromises her ability to protect crypto scam victims and is a clear conflict of interest. In any other administration, Pirro’s purchase would lead to major consequences.”
