Biden’s Unified Agenda Underscores Need to Protect the Public Through Regulation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The White House today released the spring 2021 Unified Agenda of Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions, which reports on the actions administrative agencies plan to take in the months ahead. Amit Narang, regulatory policy advocate for Public Citizen, released the following statement:

“On preliminary review, President Joe Biden’s first regulatory agenda is a clear indication that he intends to use the full extent of his authority to make good on his promise to fix the deregulatory damage from the Trump administration by reversing harmful regulatory rollbacks and putting in place even stronger protections for workers, consumers, and the environment.

“The agenda appears to reflect the Biden administration’s understanding that regulation is a key avenue to advance policies that make our government work for the American people and not corporate special interests. Indeed, congressional gridlock due to Republican obstruction underscores the importance of protecting the public through regulation.”
