‘Trump’s Hatchet Man’ Bill Pulte to Serve as Director of National Intelligence
WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump has picked Federal Housing Finance Agency director Bill Pulte to replace Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence.
In response, Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen, issued the following statement:
“Bill Pulte has served as Trump’s hatchet man in his position as the head of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, ginning up bad-faith criminal cases against Trump’s political rivals. This is his only apparent ‘qualification’ to be the Director of National Intelligence.
“Placing Pulte in this post would position him to use the nation’s massive surveillance apparatus and police capacity to harass, intimidate and threaten the many, many people that Trump considers his enemies. This is a dangerous moment for America that requires intervention. Republicans in Congress and in the administration who say they love their country should act immediately to force Pulte’s withdrawal.”
