American Economic Liberties Project v. Department of Commerce

On September 8, 2025, the American Economic Liberties Project (AELP) submitted a FOIA request to the Department of Commerce seeking documents containing the schedule of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick from February 21, 2025, through the date of the request. The agency estimated that it would not complete processing of the request until June 28, 2028—almost three years after the date of the request. We then filed suit on behalf of AELP, seeking the requested records.
