Public Citizen is collaborating with local clean energy and energy efficiency supporters in a grassroots, non-commercial effort to help Austin residents take advantage of these home energy tax credits and local rebates. Whether you own or rent, we’re here to help lower your household’s energy bills and planetary impact.
Incentives are available for installing:
- Solar energy
- Heat pump to heat and cool your home
- Heat pump water heater
- Electric vehicle charger
- Home battery
- New windows and solar screens
- Insulation and other weatherization
- Smart thermostat

- Access resources online. With so much information out there, it can be hard to sort trustworthy sources from those that aren’t. - Find out more about the types of energy upgrades that qualify for the federal tax credit and local rebates.
- Explore vetted contractors that local organizers have used to make upgrades in their homes.
- Join a home tour. Stop by a neighbor’s home to see energy improvements in action. Smart energy home tours will be posted here.
