Opposition to 50 year authorization by Lake Charles LNG to export natural gas

On July 6, 2022, Public Citizen opposed extending Lake Charles (Louisiana) liquified natural gas (LNG) export authorization for an additional 20 years, for a total 50 year authorization. LNG exports are directly causing higher domestic energy prices, conflicting with the Natural Gas Act’s mandate that the U.S. Department of Energy can only approve exports if they are in the public interest.
