AJS Letter to IRS

April 11, 2007

The Honorable Mark Everson
Commissioner of Internal Revenue
Attention: Assistant Commissioner
Criminal Investigation
1111 Constitution Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20224

Dear Commissioner:

Please see the enclosed complaint, filed pursuant to IRC § 6033, and attached Form 211, which shows that Americans for Job Security (AJS) failed to accurately disclose its political expenditures and violated IRS rules that prohibit organizations registered under Section 501(c) of the tax code from engaging primarily in activities intended to influence elections in each of the organization’s fiscal years 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2005.

Pursuant to 26 U.S.C. 7623, Public Citizen respectfully requests a “reward for information relating to violations of internal revenue laws” should this complaint lead to payment of back taxes owed by AJS.

Given the extent of the activities described in our complaint, Public Citizen respectfully requests that the IRS begin this investigation as soon as possible to prevent further abuses by AJS.

Sincerely,

Joan Claybrook
President
