Rubén is a democracy expert with over a decade of experience leading innovative, high-impact initiatives at the intersection of grassroots organizing, coalition building, and policy advocacy.
Recently, he served as the Senior Director of Democracy at the State Innovation Exchange, where he lead a program empowering state legislators to advance participatory democracy. In this role he coached legislators on legislative procedure, advocacy strategy, and more effective constituent engagement.
Before this, he served as Building Back Together’s Voting Rights Director, where he orchestrated advocacy campaigns in partnership with the White House and state and national democracy organization, focused on advancing voting rights legislation and opposing anti-voter bills across states.
He’s a proud alum of The Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University.
