Lauren Bateman

Lauren Bateman is an attorney at Public Citizen Litigation Group.
Before joining Public Citizen, Lauren represented clients in post-conviction relief cases at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. She also previously worked as a supervising attorney at Georgetown University Law Center’s Appellate Litigation Program, where she trained third-year law students in written and oral appellate advocacy and worked with them to brief and argue Section 1983, habeas, and employment discrimination cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
She graduated from Harvard Law School in 2015, where she was the Co-Chair of the Articles Committee for the Harvard Law Review. She went on to clerk for the Honorable Dana A. Fabe of the Alaska Supreme Court, the Honorable Algenon L. Marbley of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the Honorable R. Guy Cole, Jr., of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Her undergraduate degree is from The College of William & Mary. Before becoming an attorney, Lauren served as a staffer to then-Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
Lauren is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Alaska (inactive) and is admitted to practice In several federal courts.
