Ilana Beller
Director of State AI Governance and Technology
Ilana leads Public Citizen’s state work on Artificial Intelligence. She has worked directly with republican and democrat state lawmakers in dozens of states across the country to support bipartisan common-sense AI regulations. She has been directly involved in the successful passage of over 45 state AI laws. Ilana has been quoted by the New York Times, CNN, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Politico, and others in relation to her expertise on state AI regulation.
Ilana has also led work at Public Citizen to pass legislation and build a movement to strengthen and protect our democracy. Before working for Public Citizen, Ilana led electoral programs for candidates running for office. She holds a Masters in Public Administration from NYU.
Ilana started her career leading large scale community leadership programs for young people. She carries this experience with her and continues to work to create opportunities for young people to get involved in advocacy work in whatever role she takes on.
