Public Citizen’s Ode to Granny D
I thought that I would never see
An activist like Granny D.
Driven by a noble cause
To change our campaign finance laws,
This Granny took it to the street
To fight big money with her feet.
She walked across our nation wide,
And talked about the great divide
Between the influential types
And common folk with common gripes.
She walked 3,000 miles to fix
Big money’s hold on politics.
She educated kids in schools,
From Little Rock to Santa Cruz.
Her website got a lot of hits,
As she gave Mitch McConnell fits.
And now I look around and see
A thousand future Granny Ds —
Citizens inspired to act,
‘Til real campaign reform’s a fact.
So, for your courage and tenacity,
America thanks you, Granny D.
