Public Citizen’s Annual Gala Honored Senator Whitehouse and Plaintiffs in Lawsuits Against the Trump Administration

Washington, D.C. — On Tuesday, June 2nd, Public Citizen hosted its annual Gala at the National Press Club. This year’s gala honored Senator Sheldon Whitehouse for his work to strengthen campaign finance laws, increase transparency in government and defend the rule of law.

The event opened with a cocktail reception at 5:30pm, with dinner and a program beginning at 7pm.

Also featured during the program were three plaintiffs from Public Citizens lawsuits against the Trump administration this past year.

Co-presidents Lisa Gilbert and Robert Weissman also highlighted the work Public Citizen has done over the past year to resist the worst abuses of the Trump administration, which has included organizing nationwide events like No Kings (1, 2, and 3).
