FTC Click-To-Cancel Rule Is a Victory for Consumers
Washington, D.C. — Today, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a final “click-to-cancel” rule that will make it easier for consumers to cancel subscriptions.
Lisa Gilbert, co-president of Public Citizen, celebrated the news:
“Signing up for a subscription is often as simple as a single click — there is no reason that canceling a subscription should be any harder. Unfortunately, greedy corporations have made a habit of obfuscating and overcomplicating the cancellation process. The FTC’s new rule is a straightforward solution that will save consumers time, money, and customer service headaches.”
