The best way to get to Public Citizen from CFP is a 10 to 15 minute walk: exit the Marvin Center onto 21st Street, go due north on 21st Street, turn an angled right onto New Hampshire Avenue (notice the Mei Wah and Grill Fish restaurants on the far left-hand corner of this intersection, both highly recommended), walk northeast to 20th Street, then turn left on 20th Street to Q Street. Public Citizen is on the northwest corner of 20th and Q Streets.

If the weather is really nasty, you can still walk with a raincoat or an umbrella! Or, there are two buses: take the 37 bus (toward Friendship Heights) from the corner of 19th and I Streets, getting off at Massachusetts Avenue and 20th Street, then walk half a block up 20th Street to Q Street; or take the H1 bus (which does not run as much) from the Foggy Bottom Metro Station (toward Brookland), getting off at Massachusetts Avenue and 20th Street, then walk half a block up 20th Street to Q Street. Each will take seven or eight minutes on the bus. You can also take Metrorail, riding the blue line from the Foggy Bottom Station to Metro Center, then change to the red line to Dupont Circle. Get off at the front end of the train, go out of the station and when you come up the escalator you will be looking at Public Citizen’s building kitty-corner from the escalator.

After the reception, there are scads of great places to eat dinner, drink, or hang out, many of them reasonably priced, both in the vicinity of Dupont Circle where Public Citizen is located (for example, along Connecticut Avenue or along P Street), and within a fifteen minite walk. Closest are five minutes walking to due east to the 17th Street neighborhood (several places along and just off 17th Street or, a couple of blocks north, on 18th Street), ten minutes northeast to the U Street corridor (many places along U Street and down 14th Street from U), or fifteen minutes northeast to Adams Morgan (along 18th Street and Columbia Road), see generally http://www.adamsmorgannow.com/
