Dr. Michael Carome is an expert on issues of drug and medical device safety, pharmacy compounding, U.S. Food and Drug Administration oversight, health care policy and the protection of human research subjects. He has served as associate director for regulatory affairs at the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He has also worked as a staff nephrologist at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s Department of Medicine. He is a fellow in the American College of Physicians and was a guest researcher at the Renal Cell Biology Section of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at the National Institutes of Health.
