Kaitlin Leary

Supreme Court Assistance Project Fellow


Kaitlin Leary is the Supreme Court Assistance Project fellow for Public Citizen, where she offers pro bono legal assistance at the petition stage. Prior to joining Public Citizen, Kaitlin clerked for the Honorable Joseph R. Goodwin of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and for the Honorable Joseph M. Getty of the Court of Appeals of Maryland. She also completed a fellowship with the National Education Association’s Office of General Counsel. Kaitlin holds bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and philosophy from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a native of Annapolis, Maryland.

She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2016, where she was an articles editor on the Maryland Law Review and a member of the Moot Court Board. During law school, Kaitlin completed internships with the ACLU of Maryland and the Maryland Office of the Public Defender, Appellate Division.

Kaitlin is a member of the bars of Maryland and the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
