Stop the Slippery Slope from Korea to Panama
tell Congress: no more NAFTA-style FTAs!
It was bad enough that President Obama — who once promised
to renegotiate NAFTA — is pushing for passage of the job-killing,
Bush-negotiated trade deal with Korea.
But now Obama has announced he will also push for quick passage of Bush’s trade
deal with Colombia, the
union murder capital of the world, and a third deal with Panama, a
notorious tax haven.
If we don’t get Congress to stop this damaging trade
package, we’re sure to be slammed with even more of the same NAFTA-style
disaster in a massive Pacific trade pact that Obama is now negotiating with
nine countries, including Vietnam
and Malaysia.
Continue the pressure and make sure Congress knows you want a prosperous, healthy future and won’t
stand for a NAFTA expansion!
Step Up:
- EMAIL your members of Congress the message that if they don’t
stop the job-killing Korea
trade deal, we’ll hold them responsible for the next unfair trade deals as
well.
- SEND a screw! Tell
Congress: Don't Screw America! Send a screw (or screw postcard) to your Representative to
take a stand against the Korea FTA and more NAFTAs! (Why a screw: metal products is one of the sectors government studies show will lose under this deal.)
- CALL your
representative and ask him or her to oppose the package of NAFTA-clones.
- WRITE
a letter-to-the-editor or guest editorial using the Citizen's Trade
Campaign's web-based tool. Instructions: First, enter in
your zip code to find publications in your area. Next, click on the bubble to
the left of the publication's name to compose your message. Use this fact sheet to help you
express your opposition to the trio of flawed deals.
