Fight Back Against Corporate Influence in Elections
Organize in Your Town During the Congressional August Recess
In 2010, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a case called Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission that corporations have a “right” to spend unlimited money influencing elections.
Corporations are not people. Democracy is for people.
Use the tools on right side of this page to organize and mobilize against corporate influence in elections.
Here, you’ll find resources for meeting with other concerned citizens near you, urging your members of Congress to support legislative remedies to corporate influence in elections, and passing local resolutions supporting a constitutional amendment to undo the heinous ruling in Citizens United.
Local Activism Bulletin Board
We're pleased to offer this free bulletin board you can use to let others know if you are interested in organizing in your community.
Some ideas for local actions you could organize: a meeting with one of your members of Congress; a meeting with one of your state legislators; a house party or public meet-and-greet to find others in your area who want to be involved; or a demonstration against corporate money's influence in elections.
Make sure to include a phone number or email address in the body of your message so others can reach you.
Tip: If you want to organize in your neighborhood but are not comfortable sharing personal contact information on this public bulletin board, don’t worry. You can easily create an anonymous email address using popular services like Gmail.com or Yahoo.com. Interested in getting involved but not sure what steps to take? Get in touch by sending an email to amendment@citizen.org.
