The contraceptive patch Ortho-Evra exposes women to dangerous levels of the hormone estrogen, posing a possible two-fold increase in the risk of blood clots, and should be removed from the market within six months, Public Citizen told the Food and Drug Administration in a petition filed today.

Congress Must Reform Oil Industry, Financial Markets, Public Citizen Testifies
The uncompetitive practices of oil companies and manipulation of the financial markets by speculators are helping drive up the cost of gasoline, Tyson Slocum, director of Public Citizen's Energy Program, told a U.S. House of Representatives subcommittee. Congress must hold the oil industry accountable and bring reform to the futures markets, Slocum said.
