To restore integrity to the U.S. House of Representatives, Public Citizen is calling for Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas) to step down as Majority Leader or be removed by the House if he does not relinquish the post voluntarily.

No sitting member of Congress has received more admonishments for violations of the House’s ethics rules than DeLay. Other ethics complaints against him are pending before the Department of Justice and Federal Election Commission, and a Texas grand jury is examining his possible role in a campaign money-laundering scheme.

Public Citizen also seeks to enact a package of “Democracy in Congress” reforms to “Clean Up the House” and guarantee the rights of members of the minority party in the House to fully participate in the legislative process. After all, they represent nearly a majority of the population.
