Factory Farm Tour

Washington, DC Factory Farm Tour Documentary Showing!

In September 2003, Public Citizen and the Global Resource Action Center for the Environment hosted a tour for nine farmers and farm activists from Europe, Brazil and Mexico through the mid-west of the United States to see the effects large-scale factory farms have on traditional farming communities, the environment, and the meat that consumers eat.  "Factory farm" is a term used to describe corporate-controlled, industrialized livestock operations that raise thousands of animals on one site in filthy, inhumane conditions. The visiting farmers do not want to see industrialized agriculture in their communities and have now expanded their experience to continue to fight the current trend of corporatizing global food production and distribution.
