We expect our government to protect us -- protect the environment, public health, safety, civil rights, privacy, consumers. Corporate special interests have campaigned against those safeguards, and one of their strategies has been to tie agencies up in so many ineffecient layers of review and analysis that they cannot get things done to protect the public. |
