Patient safety advocates launched a campaign to change the requirements for the number of hours that medical residents work. Resident physicians' marathon shifts, lasting as long as 30 hours as often as 10 times a month, leave them fatigued and prone to errors--which could be fatal for the patients at the whim of their judgment.

Supreme Court decision will flood elections with corporate cash
In reaction to the controversial Citizens United decision, in which corporations earned the First Amendment right to spend unlimited amounts of money to influence election outcomes, Public Citizen has called for a constitutional amendment to reverse this decision and prevent corporate giants from taking over our elections, and supports Rep. Michael Capuano's (D-Mass.) proposed Shareholder Protection Act.
